"Six Feet Under" is a single by Billie Eilish. It was released on June 23, 2016 as her debut single through Darkroom/Interscope Records.

Theme[]

On this track, Billie sings about not fully recovering from a heartbreak. She misses her ex, but knows that they are no good for her. However, a part of her mind wants to know if the relationship can be somehow rekindled by a miracle.

Billie said about the song: "I’m young and I’ve been through stuff, and I’m sure I haven’t been through the amount of stuff as someone older than me. But, you know, everyone goes through it, and I think a lot of people don’t really have a way of getting out their feelings. What’s so great about being an artist is that I can just take all of the anger and all of the longing and despair, and I can just write it down and sing it. My brother goes through a lot of the same things I do, even though we’re four years apart, we still have like the same kind of mindset. I feel like a lot of songs right now–the lyrics are just so boring. It’s about the same thing. You can say that in a different way that’ll make it way more interesting and way deeper, more meaningful. So I always try to write in a way that I never heard before."

Lyrics[]

[Verse 1]
Help, I lost myself again
But I remember you
Don't come back, it won't end well
But I wish you'd tell me to

[Chorus]
Our love is six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Would roses bloom?
Could roses bloom
Again?

[Verse 2]
Retrace my lips
Erase your touch
It's all too much for me
Blow away
Like smoke in air
How can you die carelessly?

[Chorus]
Our love is six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Would roses bloom?
Could roses bloom?

[Bridge]
They're playing us out
Laying us down tonight
And all of these clouds
Crying us back to life
But you're cold as a knife

[Chorus]
Six feet under
I can't help but wonder
If our grave was watered by the rain
Bloom
Bloom
Again

[Outro]
Help, I lost myself again
But I remember you
